SPORTALOOSA HIGH ACHIEVER COMPETITION - 2010 AND 2011
FOURTH AND FINAL 2011 HIGH ACHIEVER
Double A Morning Star, ridden by Alex Mayers, is the final Sportaloosa high achiever for her part in steering the Amberley Gold team to victory in the Springston Trophy.
The Springston Trophy
is held in the South Island of New Zealand each year and is the biggest Pony Club event in the Southern Hemisphere.
This year,
27 teams contested the event and each team consists of 6, so 162 pony clubbers in total!
Double A Morning Star is a full sister to Sportaloosa stallion Double A Ariki Pii Hui, by Southbound McCue out of Ara Awa Delta Ace.
THIRD 2011 HIGH ACHIEVER
Although only back in training for just over 2 weeks after being quarantined for semen collection, Palousa San Sebastian tackled his first show at the beginning of July, after being out of action for nearly 2 months.
With Andrew Williams, a young (but experienced) showjumper from Cornwall in the UK, in the saddle, they they won on two consecutive days a second and a first place.
Three weeks later they had another second place, and following two more placings in big attended classes, all double clears. Very recently 'Seb' moved up a class and they won again with a double clear at 1.20m.
SECOND 2011 HIGH ACHIEVER
Cayuse Edward X takes away the second $500 high achiever award for 2011.
This quarter, we had several horses to choose from but couldn't go past the inhand achievements of this youngster. He fended off warmbloods at the Toowoomba Youngstock Show to take out Reserve Champion in the Open Colt Classic out of 28.
Edward X is by the Sportaloosa Knabstrupper stallion Xhogun Middelsom out of Cayuse Moonwalker.
FIRST 2011 HIGH ACHIEVER
Denban Kaleidoscope is our first high achiever for 2011. This flashy gelding has been competing at medium level dressage and consistently scoring in excess of 65%.
Congratulations!
FOURTH HIGH ACHIEVER
Our final high achiever for 2010 is Pinerow Dat's A Goer.
Ridden by owner and trainer Carolyn Kitchener, Pinerow Dat's A Goer has put in outstanding performances in the hunter hack arena, most notably at the Royal Hobart Show, one of the biggest shows in Tasmania.
Not only did 'Johnny' win his height class, he also took out the largest class of the day - the owner/rider class - with a one handed gallop that blew all the others away.
A colourful pair amongst a see of plain brown, bay and chestnut hacks, Johnny and Carolyn are the perfect high achievers!
THIRD HIGH ACHIEVER
Palousa San Sebastian began 2010 by winning his first dressage test, with a score of over 67%. That was just the beginning; following his affiliation with the British Showjumping Association, he immediately won his first Young Horse Class and qualified. He won a further two classes and again qualified.
At the BSJA qualifiers he had double clears and achieved a very respectable sixth place out of 80 horses and another double clears with 9th in a very heavily attended class of any age. All in a total of only 6 outings!
Palousa San Sebastian is bred as a dressage horse, having SAN REMO (by Wolkentanz/Weltmeyer) as his sire and GRIBALDI as his grandsire. Gribaldi who unfortunately died early this year, does not need much introduction, with the world recordbreaking dressage results of his son Moorlands Totilas, which is a halfbrother to Palousa Caprice (Black Leopard Spotted), San Sebastian’s mum.
Although dressage orientated, his pedigree shows showjumping lines: VOLTURNO (by Vollkorn XX) who was twice German Eventing Champion and Olympic Games, WELTMEYER who is known for dressage and Showjumping offspring. Besides these proven bloodlines, his granddam Palousa Cybella (Black Leopard Spotted) has won a KWPN IBOP test against many other KWPN mares. IBOP tests are very reputable amongst Dutch breeders.
Palousa San Sebastian is owned by UK Sportaloosa member Elsa Strandberg and stands at stud in the UK.
SECOND HIGH ACHIEVER
Cayuse A Grand Illusion is our second High Achiever - congratulations! A Grand Illusion won Combined Training and Open Prelim dressage (72%) and Novice 2C and placed third in Elementary 3B (60%) at Gunnadah Agricultural Show in May.
The show had its biggest entries in 10 years and it was his rider’s first outing after having her knee operated on!
FIRST HIGH ACHIEVER
Congratulations and a huge round of applause for Cayuse Global Warrior, our first ever High Achiever. 67% in an official dressage test and qualification for the state dressage champs made him and rider Rebecca McDonald clear winners for the first quarter. |
